As the agency officially launches on February 14th, this piece is more than an introduction - it’s a declaration of purpose, a tribute to resilience, and a love letter to the passion that fuels her work, and we are here to fully support it.
Some dreams start with a spark - mine started with an obsession. An obsession with
storytelling, with data, with the powerful intersection of creativity and strategy. Before I became
the founder of Dawson Marie, before the contracts and strategy calls, I was a content creator
myself. I lived and breathed analytics, dissecting engagement rates and brand deals like a
scientist. But what fueled me most wasn’t just the numbers - it was the glaring inequities I saw
in the influencer space.
Years ago, Black creators and people of color were and still are being underpaid and
overlooked, their brilliance dimmed by an industry that refused to see their worth. I saw it
happening around me, and I knew I couldn’t just sit with that knowledge - I had to do something.
That ‘something’ became my career in influencer marketing. I have spent five years on the
brand side, sharpening my skills, learning the game from the inside out. And in doing so, I found
my mission: to be the advocate that creators deserve.
Dawson Marie is a boutique agency by design, and that’s intentional. We don’t chase clout; we
everything we do. I bridge the gap between creators and brands, ensuring that every
collaboration is rooted in trust and authenticity. My role? To take care of everything but the
content, so my influencers and creators can focus on what they do best: creating.
My creators aren’t just ‘signed talent’ - they are visionaries, storytellers, and cultural architects
who deserve the world. That’s why every month, we sit down for strategy calls, analyzing their
content, refining their brand, and mapping out how to scale. I’m not just their manager; I’m their
biggest advocate, their strategist, their secret weapon.
Of course, building this from the ground up hasn’t been without challenges. Finding the right
talent - the ones who are ready for management and understand the value of what I do - has
been a process. And let’s be real, stepping into an industry where guidance is scarce meant
carving my own blueprint. But the wins? They make every challenge worth it. Dawson Marie
was just an idea in November. Now, as we launch on Valentine’s Day, my creators have already
earned a collective $30,000 before I even open our doors. That’s the power of intention,
strategy, and a little bit of magic.
This journey isn’t just about business - it’s about impact. It’s about making sure creative people
get what they deserve. It’s about rewriting the rules of influencer marketing so that brilliance, not
bias, determines success. And most of all, it’s about love - the kind of love that turns passion
into purpose.
