We recently had the pleasure to sit down with Elizabeth Lip, a Barcelona-based influencer known for her dynamic approach to lifestyle and fashion content. We met Elizabeth at one of her favorite spots in the city, a women-only membership club, called Juno House, where she often works, networks, and unwinds. Over coffee, Elizabeth shared her journey, insights, and advice for aspiring influencers and brands alike.

Finding Her Start in Monetization

When asked about her first steps toward monetizing her platform, Elizabeth revealed a unique and surprising story.

“I have a very interesting and weird story. Back in 2011, one of my first videos went viral on YouTube, but I didn’t know I could monetize it. It wasn’t until three years later that a younger friend told me about it, and it completely changed the game for me,” she explained.

Her move to Los Angeles further shaped her perspective. “In the US, platforms really support influencers in growing and monetizing their content. That’s when I started treating influencing as a real business,” Elizabeth said.

Choosing the Right Brand Partnerships

Elizabeth prioritizes authenticity and alignment when collaborating with brands.

“I love working with local brands in Spain and Barcelona. There are so many amazing ones, and I like to understand the people behind the brand—what inspired them to create it. That connection is really important to me,” she said.

She also emphasized the importance of professionalism and understanding contracts. “Before I had my first agent in LA, I had to become my own agent. I learned how legal contracts work and ensured I met deadlines. Work ethic is everything, especially when you’re starting out. Take the time to read and understand contracts.”

Staying Authentic with Sponsored Content

Maintaining authenticity is a cornerstone of Elizabeth’s approach to influencer marketing. “The other day, a friend asked me if I even do collaborations. I took it as a compliment because it means I integrate sponsored content seamlessly,” she laughed.

At the same time, she balances her creative vision with brand goals. “It’s a fine line to walk, but both sides need to benefit from the collaboration,” she added.

Growing and Retaining an Audience

For Elizabeth, experimentation is key to audience growth and retention. “On Instagram, reels bring in new audiences, while posts, carousels, and stories help build connections with existing followers. YouTube, however, is my favorite—it helps me build a loyal audience that sticks around for years.”

Navigating Challenges as an Influencer

Elizabeth opened up about one of the most unexpected challenges of being an influencer: Managing multiple platforms. “Nowadays, influencers need to post on four, five, or even six platforms. It’s so time-consuming, and honestly, I hate it. But it’s part of the job,” she admitted.

Balancing Analytics with Creativity

When it comes to shaping her content strategy, Elizabeth relies more on intuition than analytics, though she acknowledges its importance.

“Analytics can play a huge role, but I prefer to follow my instincts. For instance, a price comparison video I did last August went viral, but that’s not the content I want to focus on. I need to find a balance between intuition and data,” she explained.

Standing Out in a Crowded Space

Elizabeth’s niche—lifestyle and fashion—is undeniably competitive, but she has a unique approach to staying relevant.

“My content is diverse, covering a range of topics. My followers never know what to expect, which keeps things interesting,” she said.

Advice for Aspiring Influencers and Brands

As the conversation wrapped up, Elizabeth offered some parting advice.

“Whether you’re an influencer or running a tech startup, you need to know how to present yourself and put yourself out there. It’s better to try than to regret not doing it,” she said, raising her martini glass in a toast.

Cheers to that, indeed.
