Ignasi Caubet’s Newest Collection Speaks to The Cool Kids of Barcelona

Catalan designer Ignasi Caubet blurs the boundaries between fashion, art, and performance with El Paso del Tiempo — a collection that celebrates the strength, sensitivity, and resilience of women. Inspired by the feminine figure, each look becomes a sensory canvas: noble fabrics, distressed textures, and poetic details give voice to the unspoken, turning the runway into a deeply emotional and immersive experience.

“Femmes embodying the echoes of my roots,” Caubet reflects - and this time, those roots run deeper than ever.

At Espacio 88, twenty-three looks unfolded as one unified vision. Lights rippled, shadows played, and every movement revealed the texture of time itself. El Paso del Tiempo emerged as a complete circle — the exception to the rule that sequels are never as strong. This time, the vision was whole, powerful, and absolute. Caubet explains that this collection stems from a deeply personal place — one tied to family, heritage, and reconciliation. That reflection became the emotional core of El Paso del Tiempo: an ode to the women who shaped his lineage.

“I wanted to describe the story of my grandma — her character was very strong, very traditional, very hard, and also very sad. She had this melancholy, this quiet voice, and I just tried to find the beauty in that,” Ignacio says.

The collection draws from the feminine essence of the 1950s, mirroring the figure of Caubet’s grandmother and the spirit of an era defined by elegance and quiet endurance. Yet, it doesn’t seek to recreate the past, but to reinterpret it — evoking memory without nostalgia, with a contemporary gaze that bridges intimacy and art.

“It’s inspired by the women of the ’50s, and at the same time by women who want to go out and be free — free from those kinds of men, like my father’s generation. Very classic, very machista,” he adds.

Caubet’s creative universe has always been deeply rooted in the visual arts — painting, sculpture, and literature — and it’s this sensibility that transforms each piece and gesture into a living artwork. On the runway, fashion merges with performance, memory turns into matter, and emotion becomes language.

El Paso del Tiempo is not merely a collection. It is a manifesto — on the power of women, the endurance of memory, and the beauty of a fleeting moment.

Ignasi Caubet doesn’t dress bodies. He dresses emotions.
